The Lexington

It is almost Veteran’s Day and if you are looking for somewhere to spend time celebrating the brave men and women who have fought to keep this country safe, we’re your place.

There is no better place than on the Gulf Coast for celebrating our vets. You can use the Circle W RV Ranch as your home base while you explore one of the living legends of America, the U.S.S Lexington. Located just across the channel from Corpus Christi, it is conveniently located and can offer a full range of activities.

The Lexington Ship

The Lexington was commissioned in 1943 and was the oldest working carrier in the United States Navy when they decommissioned it in 1991. It was originally known as the USS Cabot, but the name changed as it was being finished when word came that the USS Lexington, CV-2 had been sunk.

The Lexington participated in nearly every major action in the Pacific Theater during World War II and while not in combat again after that served an offshore vigil during the next decades.

What do to

There are a variety of options for the visitor to the Lexington. One of the most popular is the self-guided tour of the flight deck where you can see all the different types of craft that have flown off this historic carrier.

You can also check out the 3D mega theater where you can watch “Aircraft Carrier: Guardian of the Seas” or “Fighter Pilot 3D.” If you are interested in Pearl Harbor, visiting the state-of-the-art multi-media exhibit, “Pearl Harbor: Course of Valor” should be at the top of your list. Finally, you can use the flight simulator or virtual battle stations activities.
